ShanghaiTech provides students with various exciting study abroad opportunities at more than ten universities around the world, including University of California-Berkeley, Harvard University, MIT, Yale University, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, University of Pennsylvania, and University of Oxford.
Basically there are two types of study abroad programs: 3+1 Program for undergraduate students, which refers to semester-long program at a partner university abroad, and the short-term programs for both undergraduate and graduate students such as summer sessions, summer research, and academic visits.
In 2019, 47 undergraduate students participated in the 3+1 Program and 73 undergraduate students in the in the summer sessions. Students are increasingly interested in gaining research experience in a university abroad. 12 students participated in the summer research program of University of California Berkeley, University of California Los Angeles, and Carnegie Mellon University.
